Over 17 hours of training in Frozen Head State Park between Sat. & Sun.
Training harder and smarter than my two previous Barkley’s but it never seems enough. We give our best! I have great admiration and respect for the 17 finishers as well as for every Barker who has given a go.

Out training for the Barkley for 5 hours yesterday, some bruised ribs and scratches from the week that was.
This has been my best year of ultras in my life! After 27 years of ultrarunning,
I ran 10 ultras in 2023 covering 1,348 miles. I had 7 podium finishes and 4 wins.

We enjoyed our time, like kids on the playground, who were going to be called in all too early, while others got to play longer.
While I was disappointed in my race, being there to witness the races of the 5 finishers including Jasmin left me feeling gratitude.

While it wasn’t my PR for the Flying Pig, 2:50:38 from 2018, happy to step out of my comfort zone. Typically I pace the Pig. This was my first time racing it in 6 years.

Proud of students! 90%+ passage on the Ohio Government AIR Test compared to 77% across the state. Across the 5 tiers; 52% of my students scored in the top 2 tiers as compared to 22% statewide average. Still striving for 100%, most students moved up a percentage at every level.

I’m not sure I’ll ever view our neighborhood running routes the same. I always viewed them as pancake flat in Circleville, Ohio but after 100 miles those flat areas can seem pretty hilly.
