So proud of my son Jaylen. As a 2026, he played up at 17u at GRBA Nationals. Loved the way he handled the physicality and didn't back down. Thanks to
@MidwestStamped1
for providing him with an experience that he won't ever forget. Amazing group of young men.
Unfortunately, I have to pass the news that my Dad passed away this morning. It's a tough time for my family and I. My Dad was an amazing man and I'll miss him each and every day. I can't even begin to describe the many ways he supported me and was there for me throughout my life
22 years ago today I was in a coma. I was hit by a drunk driver. Nobody knew if any type of recovery was possible. When i woke up I was partially paralyzed, and am to this day. The injuries the accident caused couldnt take away my happiness or the drive to be the best I could be.
Wendell Green Jr. has been contacted by Michigan, Dayton, Holy Cross, Central Michigan, Xavier, Kansas St, Loyola/Chicago, Butler, Colgate, Duquesne, Purdue, Oakland, Kent State, Northern Illinois, and New Mexico......all in the last 24 hours. 🏀👀
@GovWhitmer
@MDHHS_CME
Student-athletes deserve better than this. This is govt babble. Saying something without saying anything. The data used here is misleading by not just focusing on high school athletics which showed limited outbreaks.
I've now written over 2000 articles combined with Prep Hoops and Prep Girls Hoops. Not to mention hundreds of individually published articles as well as some side articles. Truly living the dream!
I will never apologize for ranking too many players. If we ranked you, even if we didnt, keep your dream alive. I was cut by teams my freshman year of HS. 4 years later I was a college athlete. Do your best work. If that means youre ranked
#250
, u deserve to be proud of that.
MICHIGAN HS BOYS & GIRLS COACHES/PLAYERS: SEASON IS ALMOST HERE! THE MORE INFO I HAVE/GET THROUGHOUT THE SEASON, THE MORE EFFECTIVE I CAN BE. PLEASE DM ROSTERS/SCHEDULES & RESULTS/STATS/ETC THROUGHOUT THE SEASON. MY GOAL IS TO GIVE AS MUCH EXPOSURE TO AS MANY KIDS AS POSSIBLE!!
Tough week my friends. My 11 year old rottweiler, Frank, had to be put to sleep. He was a 130lb protector, but at the same time, loved his family with kindness and gentleness. Frank was my best friend for almost 11 years and Im going to miss him greatly.
Pet peeve: Coaches playing a kid at a position based on size. Bigger guards and smaller post players do exist. Look at a kids strengths and physical attributes, not his height.
Rough day today. I have to lay my dog Denny down. He's a mastiff/boxer mix & has been me & my kids best friend for 11 years. For a long time it was just me & him and he helped me raise & protect my kids. Denny was my right hand man & I'm gonna miss him so much.
Remember this next year: Too good for the Top 250? We had D1 players and D1 coaches watching. Not good enough for the Top 250? We had players make names for themselves. Next years goal - 300. You proved that we can do it in Michigan.
Wendell Green Jr. (2020, PG, La Lumiere) has been contacted by these schools in the last 3 weeks: Cincinnati, George Washington, Holy Cross, IUPUI, Lehigh, North Texas, Northwestern, Penn St., Purdue - Fort Wayne, Rice, South Carolina, University of Penn, Utah, VCU, and Yale.
PLAYERS & COACHES AT RUMBLE IN THE RAPIDS:That was a special vibe in the gym this weekend. In general, the respect between coaches & opponents was special.Teams taking pics together, players supporting other players & teams, etc.Mission was clearly to put young men on a good path
Read every single quote from
@BatesEmoni
. "My team", "My teammates", "We"...........Thats a big part of what makes him such a special athlete and makes Ypsilanti Lincoln such a great story.
I dont get political on twitter, but this is crazy. Play sports or dont play sports...i wont tell you what's right or wrong. But have a plan. Give some facts to back that plan. Kids mental health is at stake. Careers in the sports industry are affected. Please,just show a plan.
If blocked your DM's, it's because being called inappropriate & offensive things becomes burdensome. Some of you know, I have a serious disability from being hit by a car. Calling a person w/a disability names and asking if im going places is WRONG.
Wendell Green Jr. continued his stellar play in La Lumiere's win Monday over Dematha 73-50. He is being recruited hard by South Carolina, Penn State,Yale, & DePaul. Missouri, Mississippi St, Butler, Xavier, Kansas St, Oakland & Northwestern are also recruiting/in constant contact
Ive got over 5000 followers now. The more followers I have, the more people that have a chance of seeing you. Know a college coach? Tell them to follow me. Family friends? Follow me? Family? Follow me? Teammates? Follow me. CONT
Thank you to the players for another outstanding Prep Hoops Top 250! Let's continue to grow as players and as a showcase and show the country what Michigan is all about!
When it comes to 2023 pg's in Michigan, some really good ones. Prep Hoops has Malik Olafioye and Sonny Wilson in the Top 3 in the state, but theres so many more: RJ Taylor, Amari Allen, Amonte Allen, Prince Jackson, Wyatt Nausadis, Kaden Brown, & Jordan Briggs just to name a few.
In person in as many gyms this week as fingers on my hand. About 30 games between attending and livestream. And still found time to take my mom and daughter to a Holiday light show last night. Love this life.
In this difficult time dealing with the passing of my Dad, the support of the basketball community and the people at
@PrepHoops
and
@PrepGirlsHoops
has been incredible. Thank you all for being there for me when I needed it most.
Everyone in the ‘basketball community’........Thank you. Thank you all for being a very important part of my life. 21 years later, and thankful for every day.
A while back, I set a goal of 10,000 followers by the end of summer. We're getting there! Thank you all for following me and my writing. Let's continue to grow and expand our coverage of these deserving athletes!
Managed to get back in town to coach my son's game. Big 64-22 win. He had 14 points and shut down the opponents top scorer. Very proud Dad. Back on the road!
Thoughts & prayers for the Winston family, Albion family, & UD Jesuit family. The entire Michigan bball community is hurt today. What makes us special though:We're all here for each other. It's a day to tell friends in the business & players I cover,I love ya and am here for you
On my way to Grand Rapids for the weekend! Saturday: Prep Hoops MichiganTop 250 and Prep Girls Hoops Michigan Top 250. Sunday: Prep Hoops Michigan Freshman Showcase.
My most important observation from the David Barns Showcase yesterday: The basketball community in Michigan is filled with amazing people. From coaches, to parents, to players, to media, etc......the people involved in this sport are amazing. I enjoyed talking with EVERYONE that…
Prep Hoops Top 250: Since the Top 250 on Sunday - 10 articles mentioning almost 80 players.......And I'm just getting started. You spend the time & money to attend our event, you get the time and hard work back from me. That's a promise I'll keep.
Detroit Country Day defeated Maumee Valley Country Day by 20 today. In a matchup of elite pg’s (Wendell Green Jr v Zeb Jackson) Green had a double-double with 19points 12rebounds and 5 assists. He continues to cement himself as an elite PG nationally.
Prep Hoops Top 250:
Thank you to the coaches & parents that make it possible for kids to thrive at basketball.
Thank you to everyone who gave their time to make this a success. Most importantly, thank you to the players who attended. EVERY one of you should be very proud.
Whats great about reporting/scouting high school basketball in Michigan: There’s a lot of great companies and people out there doing this. From
@PrepHoopsMI
to
@BankHoops
to
@endless_motor
and everyone in between. We’re all needed in this state. Keep up the great work everyone.
Zach Maynard (2020, G, 1Nation/Brother Rice): Just dropped 30+ points in a lopsided win over Best In The Biz In Vegas. He’s gonna make a college coach very happy someday.
Why play in the Prep Hoops Michigan Top 250? My coverage articles for that event have over 11,000 views in just 1 week! Whatever level you are or want to be, I truly believe numbers like that will help your cause.
23 years today! The car accident that nearly took my life seems like it was just yesterday sometimes. Through all the bad & difficult things that even affect me today because of my injuries, I've made it out the other side. Please everyone,drive safely and don't drink and drive.
COACHES & PLAYERS - IF YOURE PLAYING OUT OF STATE, PLEASE DM ME BEFORE YOU DO. PLEASE LET ME KNOW IF THERE'S A LIVESTREAM AS WELL. THE MORE INFORMED I AM, THE BETTER WE CAN COVER YOU AND GET THESE KIDS SOME INK.
Thank you to all the Michigan teams that trusted Prep Hoops and the Prep Hoops Circuit this spring and summer. You all represented yourselves and the state in great fashion. And hats off to my guy
@jgilbertsport
Absolutely killed it this grassroots season. Glad to be teammates
Took my 8th grade HORNETS team to a tournament last night. Walked away with 2nd place finish and in the championship game till the final seconds. So proud of the 10 kids that came together and brought home a medal.
How about a rankings update?? We're not perfect...think you or your player aren't ranked high enough? Let me know! You or someone you know left off the list? Tell us! We welcome any and all input. Personally, I love the conversations! DM me or leave a reply.
There's nothing as great as watching my son play basketball. He makes me proud. 1-2 on the day, but that doesn't really matter. Any day I get to spend on the court with him is a big W.
Over 200 emails sent to college coaches today regarding players on the
@MidwestStampede
2026 team I'm coaching. Said I wasn't messing around with this team. We're going to get better and be heard from.
We always talk about the players...how about the abundance of GREAT coaches we have in Michigan Williams from Beecher. Samaha from A2 Huron. I could go on for a while, but to all you great coaches in this state, thank you and keep up the hard work.
College coaches that want to see some top notch high school basketball players (boys and girls) in 1 building, DM me. Looks like we'll have a gym full of ranked players and next level talent on August 30. 👀
@MemphiskidJalen
Jalen Fisher is one of the best young men youll run into in hs basketball. Not to mention an underrated player who belongs at the next level. Not a better kid to hit the game winner. Sometimes the pendulum of the world hits the right beat.
#PHCircuit
Prep Hoops Circuit Rumble In The Rapids this weekend in GR! College coaches: There will be talent from Michigan and all over the Midwest!! Come check it out! Will be livestreamed as well.

@jonathan_sand10
Congrats to
@BraelonGreen1
! Received an offer from Michigan State. Anyone that was watching him pre injury a year ago, KNEW THIS WAS COMING. This isn't new, he's been playing high major bball for a while now and it's great to see him reap the rewards.
The list of players registered for the Prep Hoops Michigan Top 250 is IMPRESSIVE! I'm going to have to bring my A game for coverage! Make me work! Register today and use code word "HankampTop250" for a discount!
With all that's wrong in the world today.....there are still those people that make the world great. I really appreciate the life long friends I've made in the basketball community. From hs/grassroots coaches, to players, to parents of players, to people I work for. Love you all.
Thank you to
@PrepHoops
and
@PHCircuit
for giving me the chance to live a dream and cover these kids and these events. 20+ hours in the gym this weekend.... doesn't get much better than this. I even get to double dip and coach an amazing group of kids w/
@MidwestStampede
2026!!
Dream came true yesterday! Some truly great people worked with me, helped me find exactly what I wanted and made it possible for me to buy another house and plant some roots in Traverse City.
