A3: At @ccescavs MS, we use our advisory & CavTime to promote healthy social-emotional discussion and awareness in our students. They’re curated lessons developed by a committee lead by our counselor, & we discuss topics around leadership, inclusion, race, friend dynamics, etc.

A3: Teachers need to listen closely to what their learners are saying in the classroom. Also, work to provide students with a welcoming environment with it known that hate has no place. #breatheEDU

A3: Simply putting a sign outside your classroom or office door stating that you are a safe person helps. Letting folks know you’re an ally provides a lot of support. It’s as easy as sharing a rainbow flag at times. 🏳️🌈 #breatheEDU

So important. It helps for you to identify yourself also he/him/his, she/her/hers… let’s Ss know you’re cognizant of the necessity for using proper pronouns.
A2: In a recent blog post I read by a mother of a child who is non-binary, she said that she messes up pronouns, but keeps trying to do better. I've made that mistake several times in the classroom, and I think intentionally about how to do better, moving forward. #BreatheEDU

A2: Ss need to have a safe space where they can feel heard w/o judgement. LGBTQIA Ss are finding themselves just like their peers, however they’re realizing they’re different. It’s uncomfortable & scary, & having a safe adult is so important. #breatheEDU
