We lost a dear friend, Annie De Silva. The ceremony brought ppl together from across the wld, laughing/crying/singing/celebrating Annie’s uniqueness & nrg. She was a radiant light & co-founded the Prana Lounge in Sri Lanka, a lasting legacy. We miss you Annie but carry you w/ us.

On the issue of boosting employer engagement in upskilling initiatives, my take is that representative employer organisations - national, regional and sectoral - have a massive convening and galvanising role to play. Keen to hear views on this and recent examples!

Other big ticket items in the environs of Morden included delivering bespoke support for target groups, driving change in outdated hiring practices & recognising specific sectoral challenges (incl specific focus on care, construction & creative industries). Lots to build on!

What are most pressing priorities for boosting skills & opportunities in South London? Understanding the needs of young ppl and driving employer engagement were top of the list - and these are two areas where the work and support services of @YEUK2012 really come to the fore.

On this, driving employer engagement & developing innovative reskilling initiatives have been big themes of recent research projects - including @WECeurope / @UNI_Europa collab on capacity building and reskilling within the agency work sector.

Super-excited to be speaking at South London Skills Summit tmoro. As well as discussing policy developments, this will be gt platform for showcasing insight & support of @YEUK_2012 & role that employers/recruiters can play in informing local skills plans.

Yesterday’s keynote intro was also an opportunity to ‘play back’ some of the big ideas and recurring themes from the dozens of outstanding entries. Had to deal with a bit noise but that’s par for course at award events. Big thanks for the positive feedback on my talk at the end!

Re: #BritishRecruitmentAwards - I was invited to canter through a scene-setting keynote to 400 recruiters in the Prosecco-fulled cauldron of the Grand Hall. Not the easiest of speaking gigs, but I kept it moving & kept it light - including quick round of #Futureofwork NumberWang!
