The stories and memories created in Black family homes are an act of joyful protest against the inequality that exists in homeownership. By covering the signs with their story, each artist makes a statement against that inequality. This is part 5.

We’re highlighting this problem, and inviting Black artists to claim the space that is important to them, through a series of installations. Each piece is a unique take on the estate agent signage that is such a familiar sight on residential streets.

#ThisIsOurHome is a Habito project exploring how home ownership in the UK is a stacked deck. The proportion of Black families who own their home is far below the national average (20% of Black African households and 40% of Black Caribbean households vs a national average of 63%).
