I am saddened to learn of the passing of Senator Donald (Don) H. Oliver. He was a gift to Canada, to Black Canadians and to me personally, having been the inaugural recipient of his literary prize. I am grateful for his life & legacy. My condolences to his family. Rest in peace.
When former Senator, Don Oliver, received my book #BlackInSchool. He was the second Black Canadian appointed to the Senate of Canada. Throughout his life, he has been a champion for anti-racism and equality. Thank you @WritersFedofNS for bringing us together. #Books

On Wednesday my mother received the highest award in the province of Nova Scotia. She was invested into the Order of Nova Scotia by Lt-Governor Mike Savage. The order recognizes people who have made outstanding contributions to the province. Proud of you, my Dr., my professor.
