alister could tell he was nervous, all he wanted to do was calm him down. getting out and making his way around to open shane’s door for him. “ after you, handsome. ”
to say he was nervous would be a gross understatement. shane was nervous as hell. but he nods his head, “uh, yeah” giving his hand a gentle squeeze before letting it go

“ should we head inside? ” letting out a soft hum, trying his best not to get too distracted by shane.
shane grins wider, he really loves getting alister to laugh. “mhm, sure” he teases, leaning back to pull himself out of the trance that was looking at alister

letting out a bright laugh, gaze following shane’s and landing on his lips for a moment before returning to his eyes. “ i know enough — ” he knows absolutely nothing.
shane subtly leans into alister’s touch, his blush spreading to his ears. “if you knew anything about hockey” he jokes, his eyes flicking down to alister’s lips

letting out a soft chuckle, gently bushing hair from his face with his free hand. “ oh he absolutely is. ”
shane’s grin only grows. “yeah, heard he’s one hell of a hockey player” he jokes, glancing up at alister

alister is quick to grow flustered. worried he said the wrong thing. “ yeah, this really adorable guy names shane hollander. have you heard of him? ”
shane’s cheeks are flushing bright red. grinning wide as he looks down. “the guy you’re seeing?” he asks quietly

“ my sister lives in our childhood home, she works in real estate and my brother is currently on his last year of school and this boarding school for super intelligent kids. ” alister doesn’t mind the questions at all. he loves talking about them.
he shook his head, he never had and maybe he had been taking the for granted. “whre are they now?” he hoped his questions didn’t come off nosy, he just liked getting to know people

“ between us, i’m really rooting for you. that was the fastest i’ve fallen into a scene before. ” grinning like an idiot.
elija patted alisters back once the scene was called, stepping back and using the palms of his hands to wipe his eyes. “you were amazing too.” he bounced the compliment right back, smiling now

parking next to shane’s car. turning to look at him with a smile. “ besides . . . the guy i’m seeing is canadian so that’s a huge plus. ”
“that’s a good idea” shane agrees with a grin. he guides alister back to his apartment, giving his hand a soft squeeze when they made it

“ patiently waiting for my contract with my current agency is up so i can sign one with a canadian agency. ” letting out a soft laugh. continuing to follow his directions.
shane nods his head more as he listens to alister. he perks up at the mention of canada. don’t get ahead of yourself there, hollander. it’s your first date. “canada is better” he agrees

“ i hope you’ve never experienced loss in your life . . . but all i wanted was to be with them, y’know? i had been active for almost 5 years at that point and i had made enough to live comfortably with them. ” a small shrug of his shoulders.
elijah looked at him, surprise on his face but understanding. “that’s really selfless of you.” he spoke softly, “like really.”

alister is surprised at first, but then he melts into the hug. for a small moment he forgot he was in a chemistry read, that was until the director called the scene. pulling away slowly and wiping his eye. “ you fucking killed it, mate. ”
he glanced at his hand, a tinge of a smile popping up, subtle but there, “together.” he took his hand, pulling him into a hug. it may have meant to be a normal friendly one but these characters have been friends forever. they’d properly hug, at least to elijah.

“ i was next of kin and there was no way in hell i was going to separate from them. i took a few years off acting but it was so worth it to just be there for them . . . i almost never came back. ” he’s never admitted that to anyone before.
elijah sat on the couch, not too far away from alister but not directly next to him, a good distance. “it’s impressive to do that. a lot of people wouldn’t have done it.”

“ together? ” holding his hand out, expecting it to lead to a bro hug. a couple more tears falling past his eyes.
“you tend to do that. but it’s okay. i forgive you.” elijah gave a sad smile, his exhale wobbly. “we’ll figure it out.”

“ it’s just so . . . fake out there. everyone is only friends for gain. and i just fucking hate the city. ” laughing softly. “ i like the film scene here in canada more. ”
shane glances up to meet alister’s gaze, his cheek flushing again. “it doesn’t sound very fun” he admits

taking the bottle and immediately taking a sip. letting out a small breath. “ becoming their guardian? yes but only because it was hard to mourn and be there for them. raising them the rest of the way is my proudest achievement, more than my acting. ”
“that must’ve been difficult,” elijah tentatively spoke, turning to go to the kitchen and grab a water bottle, thankfully he had some in the fridge that were nice and cold. gently he handed one to alister when he came back into the living room. “was it? hard?”
