We are happy to report the issue that was affecting a small number of our downloadable desktop software users has been resolved.

We are working to resolve the issue quickly and ask clients to please try again later today or print and mail their return if that is more convenient.

We are aware of an issue preventing some desktop software users from e-filing their returns. Online clients and clients working with our tax professionals virtually or in person are not impacted.

Q: My check is lower than I thought it would be. Why?.A: The government determined how stimulus amounts were calculated. You can use our Stimulus Check calculator found here:

Q: Did my stimulus money go to my old or new Emerald Card?.A: Stimulus payments were deposited onto your active Emerald Card. If you receive & activate a new Emerald Card, the funds will transfer automatically to your new card. Please allow up to 2 hours for that process to run.

Q: Did H&R Block take a fee before you sent me my stimulus check? .A: No, we did not. 100% of the stimulus payment from the IRS will be deposited into your account or sent via check.

Q: What if I never get the second stimulus check?.A: For those who did not receive the first stimulus payment, believe they did not receive their full stimulus payment amount or had changes in their circumstances, a Recovery Rebate Credit can be claimed when you file 2020 taxes.

Q: Why haven’t I gotten my stimulus check yet?.A: H&R Block sent payments to millions of our customers by Jan. 6. In some cases, customers’ banks returned stimulus money because the bank account was closed. In this case, we are notifying affected customers & mailing them a check.

Last week, we sent millions of stimulus payments to customers. If you still have not gotten your payment, our call volume is still high, but please reach out to us @HRBlockAnswers via Direct Message or 1-800-HRBLOCK.

Customer support calls, social media and app volume remain very high. We thank you for your patience. Information is available here: and we will continue to provide updates as we can on social media.

But don’t worry – we have sent these payments on to the method you chose for Refund Transfer: direct deposit, check or Emerald Card. The money should be there by the end of the day.

The IRS Get My Payment website may display an account number you don’t recognize. If you took a Refund Transfer, it may be reflecting that account number. Check your 2019 return to confirm.

If you have a new active Emerald Card but it looks like the payment is on your old card, please allow a few hours for that to properly reflect on your new card. There is nothing for you to do, and this should occur by the end of today.
