Tomorrow HMS will have a table at Chi O’s sustainable earth day event. Come by to learn how GIS intersects with sustainability, or just to snag a sticker and piece of candy! From 1-3 in Potomac Square!

Next Tuesday we will host our last event of the semester. The winner of our semester long edit contest will be announced, and snacks will be provided for all that participate! We hope to see some familiar faces and make sure to keep an eye out for news about next semester! :)

Tomorrow in Samson 109 we will be mapping High risk flood areas in Florida due to hurricane Ian. The work we’ll be doing will be used to assist people that could potentially be trapped by flood waters. We hope to see plenty of you there to help with this important task!

Welcome back HMS! We’re excited to announce our first event of the semester! An upcoming watch party for the YM documentary; as well as a general interest meeting for anyone looking to learn more about our organization. We hope to see you there, this Wednesday at Samson 109!

In honor of winning the 2022 Women’s Participation Award from YouthMappers; I wanted to draw attention to some of the wonderful ladies working on our E-Board this year. None of our accomplishments this semester would’ve been possible without their hard work and dedication!

Also, a quick thank you to Youth Mappers for awarding us with the 2021 Chapter Inspiration Award! It means so much to know that we are encouraging other chapters to cultivate a new generation of young leaders in the geospatial community!

Last mapathon of the spring semester is happening tonight! We’ll be focusing on disaster preparedness in Lebanon. No previous experience is necessary and we encourage all those that are interested to come out!! In Samson 109 from 7:30-9:00 pm!.

This Thursday, April 7th, GWU HMS is hosting an in person mapathon in Samson 109 from 7:30-9:00 pm. Our task will be to create settlement data in Slovakia, which has recently become a corridor for Ukrainian refugees.
