Music has the power to bear witness. To grieve. To endure. As we mark this significant anniversary, we honour the memory of those lost, and those who found strength and expression through music. #WWII #HolocaustComposers #HebridesEnsemble.

The programme was performed in front of archival footage from the concentration camps. @willconway2015 recalls: “I can still feel the drop in temperature as we performed that music. A harrowing period - yet essential to reflect on.”.

In 2009, we toured Scotland with a programme called On the Brink, curated by our Artistic Director Will Conway. It featured music by Ravel, Krása, Klein and Bartók - composers shaped by the horrors of war and the Holocaust.

We at Hebrides Ensemble are devastated by news of the death of our dear friend Christian Elliott. An extraordinarily sensitive and gifted musician with a huge, wide-ranging talent recognised by all who had the privilege of meeting and working with him. We will miss him greatly.
