I enjoy seeing anyone qualify for state, but seeing the emotion of a senior who was a 32 second 200m girl her freshman year qualify after 4 year of hard work is something special!

My 9-year old son Jacob just got his running streak to 100 days today, and his 10 year old friend Doyle is only 4 days behind. Jacob has run exactly 300 miles during the streak. When asked why he runs everyday, he said, “running everyday means I accomplish something everyday”.

Running streak hit 5 years today! 1,826 days in a row! 7,687 total miles during the streak, 4.21 average per day. For the last 5 years I have accomplished something every day, a run! Did my favorite run, a tempo run with Aly Doherty.

Had the pleasure to watch Evan run a few reps on the track today. Amazing to see a silver medalist work out. It’s crazy to see how comfortable someone at that level looks, only to look down and see a 4:32 mile rep.

Running streak hit 8 years today. 2,922 days of at least 1 mile a day. Mini streak of 1,340 straight days of at least 3 miles. Mileage has dipped to a 4.2 mile minimum in 2023. Still grinding, but feeling older every day. Ran my favorite route today, Quarry P!

Seniors Zach Albrecht and Mark Lemke both qualify for the state cross country meet, finishing 13th and 17th place, in 15:02 and 15:07! Both were out of qualifying spots with a mile to go and flew to the finish! Mark grabbed the last qualifying spot in the final 5 meters!

One of my favorite things to do with a Jacobs alum is go for a run, but it’s extra fun when it’s with Olympic Silver Medalist Evan Jager! If you saw one tall smooth runner with an old clunky one doing a 5 miler on Sleepy Hollow today, that was us!

I was ready to run on the treadmill after going to store until I saw Zach Albrecht doing a tempo run in negative degree windchills. That led to me doing a 7 miler today and finishing with an icycle on my eyelid. Including shoes, I was wearing 6.4 pounds of gear to stay warm.

Sixth place hurts, but when your boys run with that much heart you can’t even be upset. Boys are leaving with their heads held high after running great today. Freshman Andrew Doetsch got 32nd with 1 shoe, and senior Brandon Cole ran a 38 second PR, now that’s running with heart.

Running streak hit 2,000 days today. Tested my fitness with a 3 mile tempo yesterday, went 17:35. 5:44-5:59-5:52. Today hurt. 8,907 miles so far, 4.45 daily average. 3 mile streak of 418 days.5 mile streak of 208 days.6 mile streak of 108 days. Feeling old.

10k today for Jacob! 6.2 miles in 1:00:02, 9:41 pace without a single stop. Tough early going, but finished with a 9:23-9:00 and a sprint. Best run he has ever had! Not bad for 9 years old!

Eli Marszalek had kept an immaculate running log since his freshman year, when he was a 20 minute cross country kid. He came into his 3200 today at 4,998 total miles. When he crossed the line, in his first sub 10 3200, he hit his 5,000th high school mile run! Congrats Eli!.

Went for a long run and turned it into a marathon. New PR, but missed the time I wanted. Was on pace for Boston time through 23.5, then fell apart and ran 3:19.22. Big PR still so I’ll take it, even though it’s not official and I just ran around my neighborhood.

It was a special moment for the Osmanski family when Zach qualified for state in the 4x800. Parents were both runners, dad is the head coach at Richmond Burton. They’ve always been supportive, great people, so seeing them both cry with their son was something special to see!

Max Sudrzynski ran a 14:33 this year at the state cross country meet. His PR his sophomore year was 18:06, so he had a 3:33 drop in two years. He did not run freshman year. So I checked the rest of the All-Stater's PRs their sophomore season to see if anyone else had a drop.

So proud of Albrecht tonight. He was sick all week and he still gave it his all for a 1:55 split to get his teammates down in the 4x800, even though it left him drained for the 1600. Can’t be any prouder, really shows the type of person he is!.

Distance boys were seeded to score 1 point tonight, ended up placing in every distance event. 4x8 stepped up for 4th. 3200 guys ran gutsy in the latter stages of the race for 4th and 6th. Godinez scores from section 1 of the 800. Ruffin runs a crazy last 150 to score in the 1600.

When you need to get a track workout done, you don’t have access to the indoor track, and the track is covered in snow. you break out the shovels! Great workout today outside, include shoveling out the track before the workout! True dedication!

Matt Andreano came into this weekend with a 4:20.92 PR in the 1600. He left this weekend 5th in state in the 3A 1600 and with a new PR of 4:14.13!. An unknown in a packed 1600 was in contention with a lap to go. Ran gutsy without over racing. What a weekend of racing. All-state!
