Today at 13:00 hours, we celebrated the 75th birthday of The King, our Captain General, with a 62-round Royal gun salute at the Tower of London.
75 years ago on the 15th November, 1948, we also fired a Royal gun salute in honour of his birth. God Save The King!

Students hoping to start the next Surveillance & Reconnaissance Patrols Course (SRPC) in January conducted preparatory training at the weekend, including a 20km navigation exercise (carrying 20kg of kit) & fitness test. These events ensure candidates meet SRPC entry standards.

Over the weekend, 40 HAC soldiers completed final test exercises for a qualification that will allow them to plan and execute realistic battle training within their subunits, using a wide range of small arms and pyrotechnics.

Last, but not least, of the Regiment's six sub-units is the marvellous Regimental Band. One of the busiest elements of the HAC, they conduct over 100 engagements a year, including major State Ceremonial events. And they have their own Twitter feed:

The past weekend saw some 302 personnel from the Honourable Artillery Company on ceremonial parades.
We marched in the Lord Mayor's show, celebrating the appointment of Nicholas Lyons as Lord Mayor of London.
We paid our respects to the fallen in the Remembrance Day services.

SRPC students are required to complete an 8-mile Army Fitness Test (AFT), under the instruction of the course Physical Training Instructor (PTI). Each student needs to carry a total load of 25kg, including the SA80 rifle but not including water. 8-mile route has a cut off of 2hrs

20 years ago, women were first permitted to join the HAC. They have contributed across the Regiment, including Op. Tours ranging from Iraq, Afghanistan, Kenya & the Falkands. All roles within the HAC are open to women.

The SPRC 2-week Final Test Exercise (FTX): the culmination of an intense 10-month course that required continuous commitment, physical endurance, and the learning of new skills from the candidates. Two SRPC patrols boarded CH-47 Chinook helicopters to be inserted onto Dartmoor.

The Ceremony of the Keys at the

is the oldest continually held daily ceremony in the World. In 1919 the lantern used by by the Chief Yeoman Warder was gifted to the Yeomen by the HAC garrison at the Tower. Last night the centenary was marked in a very special event

Yesterday, the Commanding Officer hosted a Christmas party for soldiers and their families, Sgt Major Santa presided over the fun and festivities. 600 soldiers, veterans and guests then attended the annual carol service lustily singing traditional Christmas Carols.
