Good piece from Emma Duncan: the UK Finance industry spends £38B on financial crime - yet half of the scams originate on @Meta, who, despite their $62B annual profits, do very little to prevent them (indeed, they make money from the scam ads). Why don’t Meta implement basic KYC.

The late Tom Lehrer quit music for mathematics at the height of his fame. But his friends will never forget his wit and kindness. @H4ryB 👇

Insane. Also.a) disincentivises the very work that could alleviate many of these conditions.b) undermines the system for those in genuine need.

I am going to put together a thread on the completely insane costs of PIP. I was going to delve into motability as well but this thread has become long enough as it is. The numbers involved are staggering to a point that I just don't think people realise🧵 1/n.

"Inflation rise takes the UK closer to debt-crisis cliff edge" – my latest @Telegraph column. Britain is heading for a very serious fiscal crisis – not unlike the 1976 fiasco which saw this country go "cap in hand" to the International Monetary Fund for a bail-out. Government.

This is fundamental: the UK now has 100+ regulators, who make it impossible for governments to govern - so democracy dies because what's the point in voting for a government that can't do anything it promises. Regulators are destroying our democracy. Stonehaven report below👇

China added 93GW of Solar capacity in May alone - that's about the same output as the entire nuclear capacity of the US (95 GW from 94 nuclear power plants). In one month. [via @ExponentialView] .[and yes, nuclear is base-load 24/7 power, solar isn't]

Higher taxes over a certain level are self-defeating. (The same was true when income taxes went up to 50% under Brown - brought in less revenue).

🇬🇧 The recent capital gains tax increase in the UK was expected to bring additional tax revenue. Instead, high-net-worth individuals and families are leaving the country, leading to a 10% fall in net capital gains tax revenue. Welcome to the Laffer curve, suckers.

The question now is whether the US senators will dare put the health of their nation before the extreme pressure from big food and big pharma (who are also by far the biggest funders of our media) to water down the agenda and keep promoting their harmful foods and drugs to kids.
