It's been a journey. Next step for my untaggable co-creator, Ben Luzzatto (prof at Maryland Institute College of Art) and me is the How-To Manual for building a carbon bank. Would love to hear from anyone else who's interested in that next project. Thanks for listening!.

As we describe in the book, there are plenty of historical precedents, the concept is scalable, and it’s achievable now. We believe that our proposed "carbon banks" could move carbon from priced to priceless, finally taking it off the market and protecting it.

Seeing currency as a powerful tool for collective action, we argue that dovetailing developments in digital money (NOT crypto!) and carbon capture have opened up a hopeful new pathway for a intervention in the climate battle.

What if carbon, rather than loom as waste in our skies, could be “drawn down” to the earth by millions of currency users, much as the gold standard led people to draw gold up from the ground?.

I'm thrilled to announce that today is publication day for The First & Last Bank: Climate Change, Currency, and a New Carbon Commons, out from MIT Press and its One Planet Series. Kirkus Reviews called it “ingenious" and "audacious.".

I’m confused. Why not just consult his own Afterword to the 2nd German Edition?

Great article comparing dominant economics’ to medieval prognosticators. Worth recalling Smith’s endless harping on “men of system”….

So long as Fed fetishism prevails, there will be no Renaissance in economic thinking. Here's hoping that the New Year turns this tide. "Mainstream Economics’ Medieval Inflation Medicine" by James K. Galbraith @ProSyn

Isn't this the plot to @roblowe's #Unstable on @Netflix? I didn't realize it was a prescient work of utopian fiction, up there with Bellamy's Looking Backward.

We’re in peak-navel-gazing era in our culture when we can have “début” memoirs. It implies and assumes that the audience would happily gobble up a second one.

Stockholm’s busy central bus station’s “tickets and help” desk in the middle of a weekday workday. The machines have definitely taken over.

Is this trajectory the inverse of what happened w eradication of debtors’ prisons? We used to punish the person AS debtor, now we (in theory) only “punish” the debt itself (with penalties, enforced payments, etc).

Tough to read this analogy, but true. Makes me ask if we can push it further: In democracies, we retain the right to police the movement of things but not citizens (e.g., pusher caught bc of the things they carry across border). TX treating women, legislatively, as things?.

I'm used to people mistaking Switzerland for Sweden, but I've never run into anyone putting the Baltic Sea smack dab in the middle of the North Atlantic (these islands are off west coast of Sweden). Doesn't give high hopes for the intelligence of AI. #applemapsfail

New measurement system just dropped: .“I am currently assigned to a 250,000 ha fire, well over 600,000 acres and you could fit the org. chart on one side of a beer can.”.
