I volunteer my home town of Launceston to be Australia's new regional megacity, as suggested by the NIMBYs.
All those immigrants and families that wanted to live in Sydney? We've upzoned South Launceston and have started building high speed rail to Hobart.
You're Tasmanian now.
@Bro2John
Rita Glennon in the SMH today. She suggests funneling more of the growing population to regional areas rather than existing big cities.
It's a pretty common talking point from NIMBYs who don't want their inner-city neighbourhoods upzoned or made more dense.

The Victorian architecture provides a great base but it's the variety of architecture that makes it great imo. Many of the best buildings are Art Deco, Brutalist, Italianate etc..
Most of the Victorian architecture is heritage listed regardless.
@LainShep
You're the first person I've heard whose highlight of the city was the airport.
I don't know what you're into but I'd say most who visit her enjoy the Cataract Gorge.

😍Arriving at Grand Central, kanamaluka, & Union Stations, the metropolis now has a shining skyline that evokes rust belt dreamers to shed a tear, a phoenix, a bustling port afloat a haberdashery of wetland habitat. Exponential, but the city limits have yet the need to expand.
@GunnerTas
I volunteer Hebel to be the next mega regional centre. Reasonably priced real estate, major highway North and South. A high speed rail planned to link commuters to Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne. Best hamburgers West of Divide. Recommended by Barnaby.
