Indonesia has to be the least culturally relevant country relative to its size. 4th most populated in the world, biggest Muslim nation, huge archipelago, but what is it really known for? Palm oil? A tsunami in 2004? Huge country just chilling there with no bearing on the world.
It's no more well known about than it's South-East Asian counterparts (Vietnam, Philippines, Thailand etc.) despite being way bigger, no good at any of the big sports, not a very influential diaspora (as far as I know). Not to throw shade or anything, it's just odd.

I think they'll start to get become more relevant over the next few decades.
They have some of the highest internet connectivity in the world, and seem to be developing really nicely.
@ThreetothePower
Not sure about that new capital city l project but I think they've built some high speed rail which is cool.
If they could get a bigger foothold on global trade that would be huge, unfortunately Singapore kinda snatched that from them.

"What is Indonesia known for among American empire ignoramuses with the attention span of a fence-post for anything or anyone that they can't eat or make a fast buck from?"
@SirJohnSamsa
You're saying this as if it would be the same for other other non-western countries. It's not. There are plenty of non-white, non-english speaking, non-western countries that are well known on the global stage. Indonesia should be one of them, but for whatever reason isn't.
@GunnerTas
a tendency towards non-alliance, a tendency to avoid conflict and keep head down on foreign affairs outside its immediate neighbours, and low emigration, perhaps

More languages spoken than any other country in the world. End note: Bali used to be known as one if the most celebrated and exotic places in the world. However in 2022 the government decided to criminalize non-marital sex, even for tourists. Oops.
