For the love of god pls don't use heavy compression/limiting on vox takes if you can't hear the distortion. At the very least send also the dry takes :(

Fun fact the original key is in A. We initially also sent version in Ab and G but the one that is making the cut is one in Db! That is 8 half-steps lower! Went from using capo to tuning the guitar half step down to keep the voicings lol.

Finally a lot of times we give little or confusing info so please ask! Maybe a different key will help you? Or got any ideas for a different phrasing that will fit you better? With current tools sometimes it is possible to change some things without much of a hassle so ask!

This wasn't directed and not a sound alike so we were looking forward to how they perform the song in their own way. There is a rocker YEAH that none of them did quite right so the ones who replaced it with something else had a more natural feel. 11/12

Another one sent a phone recording lol In her defense she was on the road. If you are constantly touring maybe a portable mic can be a good investment. Unfortunately we couldn't wait for when she was back in her studio. 10/12

Other sent a full mix that I wasn't able to use since by then the arr. changed so I had to use a stem separator cause there was no time to wait for the isolated take and that lowers quality a bit. Sometimes that can save time but please always send the isolated tracks. 9/12

One had a really awesome sad-indie-girl vibe BUT really bad rec quality. Her take had proximity effect and no pop filter. Be mindful of that since fixing that in post sucks and is just a really easy thing to avoid when recording. 8/12

Finally they both had quick turnaround time and sent between 2 and 3 takes so I was able to replace/do a quick comp of some lines in case I needed to. The ones that didn't made the callback had these issues: 7/12
