On Sunday, August 10th, there will be a protest against the price fixing carried out by the telecommunications companies of #Somaliland. Your participation is highly valued. The people have a voice. The location is Khariyadda in #Hargeisa, the capital of the Republic.

Telesom and Somtel, the two telecommunications companies in #Somaliland, agreed on price fixing. This is an anticompetitive agreement. The government shall intervene and stop this illegal act. It is not acceptable, and if allowed, it will trigger more companies to do the same.

It is a repressive tactic, ineffective, & unconstitutional. During the election, the ruling party campaigned on respecting freedom of expression. Now they are continuing the crackdown on the media and critical voices. They need to come to their sense & respect the constitution. 2.

According to the #Somaliland Journalists Association and @hrcsomaliland, 20 journalists have been detained since the new government took office in December 2024. After a brief detention, they were all released except one, who was detained today. 1/2.
