It's been a whirlwind of a year but that hasn't stopped me 'burning up the Guild floor'! 🔥 I am so grateful for all the opportunities that I have had this past year and I can wholeheartedly say I have loved my job. ❤
It's time to celebrate the work of the one and only Flamey Amie 🔥 who's been 'burning up the Guild floor' as Activities and Employability Officer! Lakeside, Save a Society, Guild Awards with MedSoc included - Amie has worked hard to ensure you had the best year possible!

Finally thank you to the students who voted me in and gifted me the best job in the world and thank you to the societies who have been resilient this year and have been a pleasure to watch and support. Good luck to Josephine who I know will do an amazing job as your next AEO.

A massive thank you to all the staff at the guild who are exceptional at what they do and the support they provide. A special shout out to Guild Student-Groups saying goodbye to you will be the toughest thing I do today, I cannot imagine not working with you. Thank you.

Rob you’ve taught me to just have fun and let loose, not everything has to be serious. Wei-Lun you’ve taught me that the loudest voice in the room isn’t the most measured and thinking before you speak is valued greatly. Jules you’ve taught me to be open to collaboration

Tobi you’ve taught me to see the good in every day and have fun in even the toughest of times. Rebecca you’ve taught me to unapologetically be myself and be confident in what I do. Charlotte Minter you’ve taught me how to have a great fashion sense and have a positive attitude

But I can proudly say I gave this job everything I’ve got. I’m so ridiculously proud of the officer team and everything we have achieved through a never ending pandemic! We’ve fought for students together, fought with each other, been there to pick up the pieces.

Today marks the end of my time as an officer and boy has it been one hell of a year! It’s not been an easy year, I’ve felt like the bad guy for telling groups not to meet in person and I’ve felt like I was on top of the world watching the Guild awards that I organised.

Well this is it - it's your 2020-21 Officer Team's last day! It's been a funny, wacky, challenging year, but thank you for leading us through it ❤️ Tobi, Charlotte, Amie, Rebecca, Rob - we wish you all the best for the future. Jules and Wei-Lun - we'll see you on Monday 😉

I hope this stops societies being lost because of the pandemic and this has been one of my longest pieces of work that I'm so proud of! ❤🤩

Activities committee and MDX approved the scheme and helped approve the societies that will be put on the scheme. The 'Save a Society' scheme will have a space on the website that will be launched over summer/ start of September with all the societies that need saving.

These societies get put 'on ice' so that if a student or a group of students want to run the society they can and can pick it up where it left off. This is a scheme that I've been working on nearly all year to help support our groups

It's been a tough year for societies and it would be devastating if we lost the unique societies we have due to one bad year caused by a global pandemic! 'Save a Society' looks to save those groups that didn't manage to elect a new committee but would have done in normal times.

So you may have seen on my officer wins graphic something called 'Save a Society' and you may be thinking that you haven't seen that on my social media! 🤔 So let's tell you what it is...

I can't believe my term in office is coming to an end tomorrow but as the officer team say 'we move and groove'! The absolute best of luck to Josephine who has some really exciting opportunities coming her way and I know she will smash it. 🤩
What was Amie's biggest takeaway from the year? 'My biggest takeaway from the Guild [is] that you never know what’s around the corner and that can be a good thing.' Read Amie's final blog, reflecting on her time as AEO: https://t.co/lZfBxacrqy
