Douse and then empty cigarette butts and ashes into a metal container-not the garbage can-and put it outside. #FireSafetyFriday

When replacing interconnected smoke alarms, it is advisable to replace all units in the system at the same time. If you need to replace a single malfunctioning alarm, make sure the new alarm is compatible with the existing units. #FireSafetyFriday

Prepare a fire escape plan around your abilities. If you need to use a wheelchair or a cane, make sure you can get to it easily and get out quickly. If you wear hearing aids or eyeglasses, put them next to your bed while you are sleeping. #FireSafetyFriday

Have working smoke alarms on each storey and adjacent to all sleeping areas in your RV, Trailer, mobile home or cottage. A well prepared and practised fire escape plan will also increase your chances of safely escaping during a fire emergency #FireSafetyFriday
