Remembering previous conversations is an optional feature for now*. But it is a crucial for getting users to stick to ChatGPT. It will be improved on and expanded. *You can disable / enable ChatGPT's "Memory" feature in Settings => Memory

The conversation you're having with ChatGPT today will be a source to draw upon in a few days. A random idea you have today might be listed as a "must-have" in a few days (as it was it my case).

Responses are on point because it remembers what we talked about before. I just asked it a generic question and it referenced a blog post I wrote 6 days ago(!).

ChatGPT with GPT-5 is great and bad at the same time. Great at coding. Great at following complex instructions. Great at producing well-researched content.

When someone sends me some ChatGPT-generated text, I wish they had sent me the prompt instead. The interesting part is usually the thinking that went into writing the prompt.
