Without better planning, the #cleanenergy industry could be as destructive as the fossil fuel industry. But it doesnโt have to be. Read more:

In the meantime, @Interior's proposal to protect additional areas from extraction will be open to public comments in the coming months. Together, we can still protect the Arctic from continued fossil fuel extraction. #StopWillowProject

Conservation groups like @Earthjustice and @NRDC have already filed a lawsuit to stop the Willow Project, saying that the Biden Administration's environmental impact analysis fails to accurately account for the project's impact on climate change.
BREAKING: We're going to court. The Biden Administration approved the Willow oil project without adequately assessing its climate impacts. It could've properly weighed its options to limit the impact. It could've said no. It didn't. And now, we are filing a lawsuit to stop it.

The better news: Stopping fossil fuel infrastructure projects after they've been approved is possible. In 2021, President Biden halted construction of the Keystone XL pipeline, and in 2020 a federal judge shut down the Dakota Access pipeline. #EnvironmentalJustice

The good news: After public pressure, the Biden Administration scaled back the project, limiting it to three drilling pads instead of the original five. The Interior also proposed protecting over 13 million acres of surrounding public land from future oil and gas development.

The Biden Administration approved the controversial #WillowProject on Monday. It could lock the U.S. into another 30 years of oil and gas production and is projected to produce carbon emissions equivalent to 70 new coal power plants. We need to stop it โ and we still have time.

And the other obvious solution is to protect and restore #nature. The world's natural carbon sinks capture and store enormous amounts of #carbon. Nature-based solutions can address #biodiversity loss and #climate change and are cost-effective and ready to scale, too!

#Climate change is a solvable issue. In fact, there are so many #solutions it can be difficult to know where to invest resources and prioritize efforts. That is why we developed a three-point framework to guide our own strategic thinking. Learn more:

What if you want rooftop solar but donโt own your home? Two words: Community. Solar. You can buy into a solar array with others in your area and get money back on your utility bill. And the Inflation Reduction Act is about to help these programs take off. https://t.co/CGHCy0nt1O

On a farm field east of Faribault, Minnesota, a 1.3-megawatt solar array provides electricity to serve about 180 subscribers. The project, which occupies about six acres, is an example of community...
