Only just found out about the passing of former racing manager Mick Smith. So sorry to hear. So kind, decent and a greyhound man to his boots. Nobody disliked Mick. He represented the very best of his profession and it was a privilege to have had so many dealings with him.

Nearly 100 hours of work later and we handed the track back over to the @HoveGreyhounds team today, thanks to everyone at the stadium and team for making the job run smoothly despite the weather !

A massive thanks to everyone for their kind words and messages. With very few exceptions, greyhound folk are outstanding human beings and I’ve been blessed to spend so much of my life among you. I’m fine. Thank you. Thoughts are with the other writers on their last day, today.

It seems that GRUK - which took over from Greyhound Star in July 2024 - may be no more. More details will emerge but my days as being the journalistic equivalent of Horlix are over. At least I survived some of my employers - Sporting Life, Teletext . Time to go. Try counting 🐑
