Seeing as the Government has failed to request a formal Grenadian portrait of His Majesty, the League is proud to present our best effort to create an unofficial portrait of His Majesty as King of #Grenada. Note that this is a heavily edited composite and not a real photograph.

This is a very regrettable and sad change. We have had the government railroad a fundamental change to the constitution - without any sort of engagement with or consent of the public. The Grenadian people rejected this change by 57% in the 2016 referendum. This was not wanted.

To all Grenadians, the League wishes everyone a happy Emancipation Day!. Today, 191 years ago, the abominable institution of slavery was abolished throughout the British Empire. Today is a day both of celebration, but also solemn reflection.

The introduction today of a bill amending the Constitution to remove references to His Majesty The King from the Oath of Allegiance is a travesty. The Grenadian people, who in 2016 rejected such a move, will be granted no voice in this process. It is shameful and we will fight.

The announcement that government intends to table a bill to unilaterally remove references to His Majesty The King from the Oath of Allegiance - something the Grenadian people overwhelmingly rejected by referendum in 2016 - is absolutely outrageous. We will fight it every step.

News that the government has no plans to pursue constitutional changes regarding the monarchy is very welcome. The notion that the Governor-Generalship should have term-limits must, however, be put thoroughly to bed. The King's representative must serve at the King's pleasure.

Today, we remember all those millions of men and women, from across the Commonwealth who served and gave their lives in service to achieving the defeat of one of history’s cruelest regimes. We wish to express our special appreciation for Grenada’s few remaining veterans.
We remember and pay tribute to all those who served during World War II. The King, The Queen, and other Members of the Royal Family, joined extraordinary veterans (@RoyalBritishLegion) on the Queen Victoria Memorial to observe military units processing down The Mall. #VEDay80.
