"This is less a book than a 600-page diatribe. Wawro reduces an incredibly complex political-military contest to the barest simplicity: Vietnam was a bad war run by bad American leaders." @GregoryDaddis reviews Geoffrey Wawro's "The Vietnam War."

Super congrats to David Suisman and @UChicagoPress. I had the privilege to read this early on and it's a superb book. Highly recommend for those teaching about the relationships between war and society.

Next 5 on the pro reading list. Benton is super on how we talk about war. Check out @jamesgramwilson. A terrific Cold War read! As is Linn's social history of the 1950s army. Some great essays in Isaac & Bell on the "idea of the Cold War." Review forthcoming on the 'Nam.
