It's funny that Hannity and Ingraham texted Meadows to get Trump to call off the rioters. Because guess who fed the lies about 2020 that helped inspire those rioters? Hannity and Ingraham did. The rioters operationalized what Fox News wrought. New piece:

Hannity and Ingraham were very alarmed about the 1/6 riots. But here's Hannity in Nov 2020: "Do you believe this was a free and fair election?" Every American, he said, should be "outraged." Fox spread an extraordinary range of lies/conspiracy theories:

The lies about our elections, and the hallucinatory depiction of the tyrannical leftist menace, have an instrumental purpose: To build the case that anything goes in response. Building on arguments from @lionel_trolling , @DamonLinker and Sam Tanenhaus:

@ThePlumLineGS Hannity, @DonaldJTrumpJr , @IngrahamAngle , & @kilmeade may have been as delighted as Trump reportedly was when the storming of the Capitol started, but then realized the optics of it on TV were terrible & urged Trump to call it off via @MarkMeadows .

@ThePlumLineGS It seems like their texts were designed to get out in front of their actions and create cover for the insurrection they boosted and encouraged.

@ThePlumLineGS Who doesn’t think that #tuckercarlson and #SeanHannity communicated directly with trump. Those texts and/or call records will be coming out.

@ThePlumLineGS Yep. But in the end, who was right on January 6? Was it the FoxNews hosts that panicked that the Capitol Insurrection would be ruinous for Republicans and Trump, or Trump, who figured everything was going fine for him? So far, I'd say it is Trump.

@ThePlumLineGS @waltb31 They pretended they were concerned with Trump's legacy. But in reality they knew they were going to be sharing the blame.

@ThePlumLineGS Their texts revealed who they are. Not one showed any concern for the lives inside the Capitol. None spoke of the moms, dads, spouses, the Capitol police, or of any human being caught in the danger of the moment. They spoke of the "image" of all of it.

@ThePlumLineGS It’s almost like they’re scared that they’ll be held responsible. Almost.
