The heatwave continues. Another 3-day warning issued. Its been almost a month - the longest on record in Bangladesh. In addition to heatstroke deaths and school closures, we're seeing highways melting, a power station on fire, over a million chickens dead - even tea plants dying.

As we recommit to the SDGs and their underlying promise to #LeaveNoOneBehind, it's important to recognize and account for the web of overlapping constraints that effectively "trap" people in poverty. Learn how governments can reach those furthest behind:

I don’t fully understand this graph yet, but it won’t stop me from retweeting this critical point. Investments that meet or exceed certain thresholds have sustained returns smaller incremental investments often do not
A trap view of poverty means social protection is an investment not recurrent expenditure. The more we invest in enhancing productive capacity of the poorest through carefully designed big push, the more we can manage to protect against other shocks. https://t.co/TpQdS2woaH

A rare positive story out of the horrors of Afghanistan - and a powerful example of Rwandan hospitality. African nations continue to bear an immense burden of refugees from neighbouring countries and from further afield. @RestIsPolitics

Research from @WorldBank and @poverty_action in Niger found that psychosocial support in the form of coaching & community engagement to be key to Graduation's cost-effectiveness & program impact. New research builds on this ⤵️

I was recently in Bihar, India to learn from one of the biggest Graduation programs and foremost examples of scale. The program converges many existing services from the state and incremental financing is generated out of the state’s budget. (2/3)
