Last night, we had a visit from a 16-year-old boy with autism. He was having a rough time at home, so he walked to the police department. Officers called mom, and she was fine with him hanging out with us. The boy and officers played word games, drew, and solved math problems.

Angel Hernandez and Gustavo Osorino, both 20 years old, from Greenfield, were arrested on Wednesday morning for street racing; their vehicles were impounded. Street racing puts drivers community members in danger of serious injury or death. To report street racing, call police.

Philip Morones, 26, of Greenfield, was arrested Friday morning for DUI, after he drove his car through two backyards on 12th Street and Pasque Avenue. The car came to a stop after hitting a 25-foot Pine Tree. Thankfully, the car missed the homes; there were no injuries.

Miguel Zamora, 22, of Greenfield, was taken into custody for felony domestic violence and attempted murder for strangling his girlfriend, Jane Doe. As police contacted Zamora, Cesar Chavez Elementary School was placed on lockdown. Zamora was taken to jail.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 34-year-old, Alfonso Benito Herrera for a vehicle versus pedestrian hit and run traffic accident that occurred yesterday.

Yesterday afternoon, officers responded with the Greenfield Fire Department to a structure fire on the 400 block of Primavera Court. A man was reported in the burning home, so firefighters entered for a rescue operation. The man was found un-injured.

An active shooter situation occurred today at the Gilroy Garlic Festival while our Explorers were providing volunteer service at the event. All of our Explorers are accounted for and will be returning to Greenfield shortly. GPD officers responded and are in Gilroy and assisting.

At 4:40pm, officers were notified that CHP was involved in a vehicle pursuit in the city. The pursuit ended when the suspect vehicle collided with a car stopped at the intersection of Elm Avenue and 12th Street. This investigation is being handled by the CHP.

Three juveniles were arrested after attacking a 13-year-old boy, which left him unconscious. On Wednesday, residents called police to report the incident. Through their help, the three juveniles were identified and later arrested for attempted robbery, assault, and conspiracy.
