isn't romance present basically everywhere though? *most* series regardless of the demo, have some kind of romantic subplot in them? so why is it that only shoujo gets singly-marked off as "especially focusing on romance" when you have hundreds of examples in other demos too..

I'm blaming the shortsighted/low attention span mindset. Reading VNs is basically like reading manga with more flashy stuff and voice-overs (sometimes), it doesn't take you that long to read. Honestly, you might as well stop calling yourself a yuri fan for having this mindset.

makio's relationship with kasamachi was always one of my favorite side plots of Ikoku Nikki and seeing it animated has brought back all my feelings again I love that it shows love/feelings outside of what's considered "normal" isn't wrong, do what feels best with your partner!!!
