Recently upon playing the Mecha Sonic boss, I noticed something; he does the drop dash. Then I realized he has analogues to Sonic's barrier moves. That's when I had an epiphany: What if originally Sonic had all of these in his moveset? Mecha Sonic would thus be a mirror battle.

There is a much thinner line between the classic games and Adventure than many seem to think. Sonic was not haha silly old timey cartoon then suddenly hardcore anime cheese. Classic Sonic was essentially a shonen anime, and Sonic Adventure was just a sharper version of that.

Seeing people/reviews say that the Sonic movie "opted for being widely enjoyable instead of being faithful to the source material". I do not understand this idea that enjoyable and faithful are at odds. That's saying Sonic is not enjoyable and has to be NOT Sonic to be enjoyed.

They somehow even arrived at the same theory I did that South Island was once home to a bird civilization. The owl and echidna tribe being on South Island confused viewers but these things actually tie into the lore incredibly well. I hope this is more than amazing coincidence.

At one point, I tested part of Kingdom Valley in the engine. We were surprised at how well the level design already worked, as if it was made for an engine like this, even down to Utopia's specific movement. Or maybe my designs were lining up with theirs as I progressed?

Even if made perfectly, the boost games still strip Sonic of gameplay. This isn't mere opinion, they are objectively, functionally less. They remove movement properties, turn variables into binary choices, and rob players of agency. The differences are not an equal tradeoff.

Rather than a ramp, the path leading into this hole was originally going to lead into an underground Marble Zone section similar to the Labyrinth Zone section. The hole would've been gated off requiring use of paths leading up to it to find and access.

Speaking of the gem cavern, you may notice in the corner behind that invincible monitor is a suspicious rock formation. There was going to be another tunnel there leading to other rooms. The modeling was actually partially finished, the rock was placed there to close it off.

Even Sonic 1 had a story. They had a plan that included cutscenes in the game which were scrapped only due to constraints. So for the original games, they told some of the story in the next best place they could: the instruction manuals.

In the secret upper area above the gem cavern, there was going to be a cave cutting through the mountains leading into another large cavernous area, this one designed as the mountain interior. It would've been a shortcut leading to the other side of the level.
