Operation SAFE has now removed 1,106,720 pounds (over 550 tons) of trash and hazardous materials across 64 homeless encampments in Tulsa, OK. Now that these sites have been cleared, State Troopers will return again and again to enforce the law.

On 9/11 we remember the cost of terrorism and the strength of America. This year also reminds us that political violence and terror is a reality— and it’s an attack on all of us. Just as we did after 9/11, America answers evil with courage, faith and justice.

My heart breaks for the families in Minco, OK who are facing unthinkable fear and uncertainty after last night’s rollover bus crash. I just spoke with Minco Superintendent Kevin Sims to offer our prayers and support— Oklahoma is with them!

On Saturday, an additional 302,000 pounds of debris and hazardous materials were removed from state property around Tulsa. Total so far is over 250 tons. Operation SAFE crews rested on Sunday and are back working again today.

This encampment was up against the backyard fence line of numerous family homes in Tulsa. Residents had been living in a state of fear— their properties were consistently trespassed, vandalized and burglarized. It’s unacceptable. Operation SAFE is restoring order.

As part of Operation SAFE, State Troopers and ODOT crews install these notices on illegally occupied state property. The individuals who remain on the property are offered rides to local housing/treatment facilities or face prosecution for choosing to break the law.

Yesterday, Operation SAFE crews removed 206,000 pounds of debris and discarded materials from 21 separate encampment sites in Tulsa, OK. The Operation is restoring state property that belongs to our taxpayers and improving public safety.

Remediation at this site has now been completed. Encampments near major highways, like this one was, are extremely dangerous to both drivers and the homeless.

A Tulsa encampment backed up to a residential neighborhood contained multiple needles and hazardous materials. Families do not deserve this! Extra precautions will be taken and the encampment will be cleared to protect these residents.

Operation SAFE in Tulsa. We have an obligation to clear these encampments that have destroyed state property. Our obligation is also to the tax paying citizens of Tulsa, who deserve a clean and safe city.

This encampment extends for about a mile in Tulsa, OK. State Troopers found stolen metal from a nearby metal plant and stolen crates from the railroad. It will soon be cleaned up.
