And, the legislature passed most what we advocated for: .✅ Expanded the Child Tax Credit .✅ Increased Earned Income Tax Credit eligibility .✅ Added a $5,000 bump to the Social Security income exemption .✅ Fully exempted military retirement pay.

Over the last few years, Vermonters have felt the impacts of inflation, from housing to heating bills. That’s why I continue to focus on affordability. We put forward a plan to ease the burden on low-income workers, families, and retirees.

Town crews, contractors, and the Vermont Agency of Transportation and are already hard at work to repair roads in places like Lyndonville – where the bridge inspection team found the bridge on Route 5 can be repaired and isn’t a total loss.

The aftermath of yesterday’s flooding is a reminder of how devastating floods can be for impacted homeowners and communities. We’re grateful yesterday’s storm wasn’t nearly as widespread as the 2023 and 2024 storms.

Two years ago, areas across Vermont were devastated by catastrophic flooding and one year ago, more intense rain hit Vermont devastating more communities. But, instead of throwing up our hands, Vermonters rolled up their sleeves and got to work.

From public servants at the federal, state and municipal levels to non-profit organizations and volunteers to businesses and contractors – this work is far from over. Neighbors helping neighbors rebuild. Perseverance and hard work through recovery.

As we reflect on the anniversary of the 2023 and 2024 floods, response and recovery efforts have required all-hands-on-deck and creative solutions.

I wish all Vermonters and visitors a happy and safe Fourth of July!. It’s important to remember that there is more that unites us than divides us, and when we speak with one voice, America is an unstoppable force for good in a world that desperately needs more of it.

Today I signed S.51, which includes tax breaks for workers, families and seniors. It also fully exempts military retirement income up to $125,000 and tapers off for those receiving more. This income tax exemption is something I and many others have long advocated for.

To begin addressing the housing crisis, we launched a program to fast-track housing by making site improvements to vacant lots in mobile home parks, placing new manufactured homes, and selling them at cost to buyers. Once they sell, the money is used to purchase a new home.
