I was reading in @gmoomaw's @RichmonderNews story that the city took $1.3 million out of its Affordable Housing Trust Fund "to support ongoing efforts to build a slavery museum and historic site in Shockoe Bottom."

I'm wondering: Is that the same $1.3 million mentioned in this VPM story: "At the time, the city allocated $1.3 million to create a foundation to shepherd the museum project"

Was that for the National Slavery Museum Foundation, which says it "re-applied for 501c3 non-profit status on November 17, 2020, and it has been granted. The statuse [sic] was application was made in anticipation of operations that are expected to begin sometime in calendar year

What's the latest on this foundation? Hard to find anything anywhere. How was that $1.3 million used?

It sounds like the city is working on a plan to resume its suspended auctions of tax-delinquent properties and perhaps figure out how to use the rest of the money sitting in the Affordable Housing Trust Fund.
