Functionally, we demostrated that transition from CV to IVC represents a shift from a multifunctional embryonic vein to a specialized adult conduit adapted for high-volume blood return.

In this work we uncovered the existence of Inferior Vena Cava (IVC) in #zebrafish which develops through a remodeling of cardinal vein during metamorphosis . Using EC lineage tracing we reveals that IVC arise exclusively from venous source.
