The Divisional Court has granted leave to appeal Justice Perell’s decision to do away with honoraria in Doucet v Royal Winnipeg Ballet. Excited (and relieved) to keep fighting this fight on behalf of all the rep plaintiffs who make everything we do in class actions possible.

Can’t believe Perell J actually said a $30,000 honorarium for an abuse survivor who stepped up as a representative plaintiff in a class action is “repugnant” and “dishonours more than honours [their] bravery”. Really hope other judges defend the important function of honorariums.
Today Perell J released Reasons in Doucet v. RWB stating "as a matter of legal principal honourariums should no longer be granted". We need to make submissions counter to this in another case. All comments welcome. Send to me or @tinaq_yang .
