Update: Crews responded at 2:58 p.m. to a residential fire on 11th Ave NW. Smoke was visible coming from the garage when they arrived. Firefighters quickly knocked it down, preventing spread to the home. No injuries reported. The cause is under investigation

GHFMO on scene of a structure fire at 13600 block of 11th Ave. Fire is extinguished. Starting to cycle crews through rehab and return to service. No injuries reported.

The calendar said 2000 when FF/PM Metters first put on the Gig Harbor Fire & Medic One uniform. Now it’s 2025 and he’s celebrating 25 years of service! A lot has changed, but his commitment to our community has never wavered. Congratulations!!

Flashback to the year 2000: dial-up was still a thing, flip phones were the craze, and two new firefighters, Voigt and Szczepanski, joined GHFMO. 25 years later they’re still serving strong as a Battalion Chief and a Lieutenant. Congrats BC Voigt and Lt. Szczepanski “Ski”!

Welcome to our 7 new lateral firefighters! FF/EMTs Merrill, Sylte, Norman, Lopez, Lucero, Meyers, and Moody began their training yesterday and will soon be serving alongside our crews throughout the district. We’re excited to have them join GHFMO!
