A unique Lutheran church: St. Laurentius, Dassel. This church is full of Lutheran wallpaintings from the 16th century by an unknown painter. The biggest and most famous piece is: Das Weltgericht (The Last Judgement).

With the beginning of the new church year. Mt. 21 will be read tomorrow: The entry of Jesus in Jerusalem. The next time it will be read is on Palm Sunday. In both cases its clear: prepare your hearts and minds. Jesus comes and he comes with might.

For the people that understand this wrong: Just because Luther says that they are inseperable does not mean that works play a role in salvation. Works are a necessary consequence (heat/sanctification) of saving faith (fire/justification).

Today in Germany we celebrate Totensonntag/Ewigkeitssonntag (Sunday of the Dead/ Eternity Sunday). As it is the last sunday of the church year. Therefore remember those that went before us and be comforted in the eternal glory of our living God.

I am really thankful for a lot that my generation (Gen Z) sees and does but (speaking from my experience) initative and responsibility in church and community are often really lacking.

Today it is the day of prayer and repentance again. The painting shows the Lutherans of Magdeburg celebrating the Lord's Supper while they are being sieged by imperial troops in 1631 (30 years war).
Today protestant Christians in Germany celebrate the Buß- und Bettag. A day of repentance and prayer for the German people which was called out numerous times by authorities in history. Since 1893 it is celebrated yearly on the Wednesday before the Last Sunday of the Church Year.
