It hurt a little to cut out this doorway. It took quite a while to get those logs to lay flush. Well, as close to flush as I could get them away.

At this stage, I had learned that a tape measure was useless. It was easier to just "eyeball" it. I made lines cut in the bark with a chisel. Then cut the notch out. When I first started this, it would take me 1/2 day to get one log cut right. Now, I could make one in about an

16 logs in place. The shortest log is ten foot long. This is when everything changed. I had spent way too much time on it to burn it. It is chest high now and getting inside was a pain in the ass. If I keep going up, I will need a door cut in. If I go to the trouble of cutting in

When I started to work on the fourth level I had a much better understanding of the cuts and how to make them. The thought of making a fire inside of it is still in the back of my mind, but fading fast...

I had learned from the many mistakes that I'd made. So, I just kept building up. This is a heavy ten-foot log. It was getting harder to stack the logs the higher I went. I'm making this folly by myself. Maybe this would be a good time stop and turn it into a bonfire...

The Norwegian cut was a lot easier to make and I started to make progress. I'm still thinking about how cool a fire will look in the middle of this thing. I make stuff and I'm really good at making a big fire...

At this point the only thing I was making was mistakes. The Lincoln Log method was not working for me. I watched some Dick Proenneke videos. He used the Norwegian cut to attach the logs, so I tried that. I'm thinking that I'll just make a fire in the middle and say I tried...
