4/.📍In Medellín, Colombia, geoscientists and communities installed 120+ sensors to monitor hillslopes. The result? A locally grounded early warning system built on collaboration, trust, and detailed knowledge of risk.

4/.🧭 Local data, such as detailed geological mapping, landslide monitoring, and indigenous knowledge, helps refine triggers and improve the timing, accuracy, and trust in alerts. Without it, false alarms and missed events are far too common.

3/ .From satellite data to national models, global tools are vital, but they often miss local-scale hazards. 🌱 Small changes in geology, vegetation, or topography can mean the difference between safety and disaster.
