Σε αντίθεση με την πολίτικη βασιλόπιτα, δεν θυμίζει τσουρέκι ούτε στη γεύση ούτε στην όψη και δεν περιλαμβάνει μαχλέπι, μαστίχα ή νωπή μαγιά. Τα αρώματά της προέρχονται κυρίως από το κονιάκ και το πορτοκάλι, ενώ το φρέσκο βούτυρο της χαρίζει πλούσια και φίνα γεύση.
