This strategy aims to help the City remain financially sustainable and deliver community benefit by supporting golf clubs and facilities and ensuring public access to courses. It was developed in consultation with a range of stakeholders including Golf Australia and local clubs.
Council has adopted the Golf Facilities Strategy, which directs that the City exit out of direct operation of golf facilities. Alternative management models and long-term leases will be explored for the City’s seven golf facilities.

Blue Waters Lake Reserve is a unique wetland habitat in Ocean Grove, and residents want to protect its natural environment and amenity. The master plan will guide Council’s investment priorities and the staging of works.
Council has adopted the Blue Waters Lake Master Plan. Key actions for the reserve in Ocean Grove include path, table and seat upgrades, native plantings and stormwater improvements.

A district ride centre would contain features such as dirt jumps, an asphalt pump track and a skills trail, which has been proposed as an alternative to the high number of makeshift jumps being created in Ocean Grove. A Community Reference Group will assist in its detailed design
Council has noted Kingston Park, Ocean Grove as the preferred location of a District Ride Centre. A Community Reference Group will be established to progress detailed designs on the ride centre.

Thanks to those who have given feedback so far, including over 2,500 people surveyed and face to face meetings with representatives from key sectors. We want to hear if we are heading in the right direction with this draft strategy so keep an eye out for the community engagement
Council has endorsed the Draft Central Geelong Parking Strategy for public consultation. The strategy proposes a demand management approach, that aims to ensure there will always be parking available. Public consultation will be held for a minimum of eight weeks starting in 2023.

Councillor Trent Sullivan was elected unopposed by Council tonight as Greater Geelong’s new Mayor. He becomes the fifteenth mayor since the amalgamated City of Greater Geelong was formed in 1995. Cr Anthony Aitken, from the Windermere Ward, was elected unopposed as Deputy Mayor.
