I took my seat—and it just hit me. I’d never felt the gravity of a moment quite like that day, high up in the stands of Court Philippe Chatrier. It was like seeing it for the first time, even though I’d been there more times than I could count. No titles all year. Meniscus

Djokovic has now gone the last five grand slams he’s played without winning one. The last time that happened was after he won his first French Open in 2016 and hit a low point in his career in 2017/2018. He went 7 slams without winning one at that point.

29th January 2023 The day Novak Djokovic went back to Australia, won his 10th Australian Open title and beat these people forever. https://t.co/MzKl0EV9Xp
Not how we wanted your campaign to end, @djokernole. Thank you for another wonderful Australian summer. Well played and best wishes for a speedy recovery. #AO2025

There will never be another Goaterer
Roger Federer was 38 years old at the 2020 Australian Open. He won 2 hard fought Five Set Matches to reach the semis where he squared off against Novak Djokovic. Lost the first set in a Tie-Break. Completed the match. Losing in straight sets. Respect is earned.

Nadal's last match at his favorite court was a round 1 thrashing vs Novak with crowd on Novak's side. Imagine winning 14 titles there and yet your rival is getting more support at your favorite slam. Novak got the send-off in Paris which Nadal couldn't. https://t.co/8t8fUzMjqA
Ultimately, whether you like it or not, this is his legacy. Probably his last match on his favourite court, likely injured, and he gets out of there being booed. Deported. Called out. Booed. Djokovic in Australia. https://t.co/qJmwCfFrx8

Novak Djokovic has nothing to prove. The greatest there was. The greatest there is. The greatest there will ever be.

Alexander Zverev; " There is no guy on tour that I respect more than Novak, one of my closest friends; whenever I struggle I can always text him, I can always ask him for advice. I spoke to him for hours when I struggled mentally in Shanghai and USO in 2024. He's helped a lot."

The goal is obviously to win No. 25, but that's a positive AO for Djokovic. Looked intensely motivated, moved better than I'd seen at any point in 2024 and beat Alcaraz. Level is still there. Gotta hope the injuries stay relatively infrequent.

Ultimately, Not able to beat a 37 Year Old Djokovic in back to back big pressure matches in his prime is Carlos Alcaraz’s legacy 😭

Zverev on some of the crowd booing Djokovic after retiring from Australian Open “Please guys don’t boo a player when he goes out with injury. I know everyone paid for tickets.. but Novak has given everything of his life to the sport the last 20 years”
