This is absolutely something that should be done, whatever you think of Sanseito. Japan’s regulations are ludicrously lax and there’s no reason that non-residents should be so easily able to buy property, as I argued a few months ago:.
bloomberg.com
Despite the stereotypes, Japan is one of the most permissive places for non-residents to buy property. That’s a problem when locals are being priced out.
Sankei reports that the DPFP & Sanseito are keen to craft legislation to tighten regulations around foreigners purchasing real estate assets, which could serve as a "litmus test" on how parties view policies related to foreigners.

Yakuza manipulation of the market continues apace, with the Topix hitting another record high today. May close above 3,000 for the first time ever.
Hey so it's been 6 months, did we figure out how the Yakuza and the LDP were manipulating the Japanese stock market yet? Presumably under the supervision of Nippon Kaigi and/or the reverse vampires?

The latest misunderstanding has been cleared up. Check back next week for more.
Japan’s chief tariff negotiator Akazawa Ryosei reveals that the U.S. Government agreed to revise its executive order to give Japan special treatment in tariff reductions. Like the EU, tariff rate at 15% for everything.

I wrote last week that it was too early to relax about the threat of US tariffs on Japan. And so it has come to pass, with a fundamental misunderstanding between the two countries on the new rates.

A fresh discrepancy in interpretations of the US-Japan trade deal came to the fore on Thursday, as Japan’s chief negotiator visits Washington to press for follow-through on a pledge to cut a levy on...
Markets loved the Japan-US trade deal -- but it leaves a lot of unanswered questions. And who's going to buy all those massive American cars that won't fit on Japanese roads might be the least of them. It's too early to relax just yet. My latest, free:.

Nuclear deterrence has very much not failed, as evidenced by the lack of nuclear conflict or global-scale war since the development of nuclear weapons.
When the Hiroshima governor said "Some claim nuclear deterrence is more crucial than ever. But has it not failed before, undone by egos, pressure, or simple mistakes?" the camera focused on Sanseito leader Kamiya, many of whose party members openly advocate for Japan to arm

Foreign malt, not hops. Almost all (>95%) malt used in beer in Japan is imported.
Many are pointing out that Sanseito's official beer uses foreign hops. The label also reveals it is manufactured by DHC, a company that previously created right-wing YouTube videos. In 2020 DHC's then-CEO accused heads of rival companies of not being "pure Japanese.".

Convincing Americans that Japanese war crimes have been "erased" or the related canard that Japan has never apologized for the war is one of the greatest psyops ever pulled. Go onto any Reddit thread about Japan and an American will be repeating this nonsense within five posts.
Was just reading yesterday how the Japanese war crimes of WW2 have largely been erased. And not just the slaughter of 20 million Chinese. ✅ The mass rape of 80,000 women.✅ Unit 731, where they removed people organs while they were alive and shattered limbs after freezing them.

“They’re taking the very beautiful Ford F-150, which does very well. And I’m sure we’ll do very well there and other things that do very well here, will also do well there.”. Narrator's voice: they did not, in fact, do very well there .

I usually mock these kinds of posts, but this one mostly checks out TBH.
I just returned from two weeks in Japan, and I have to be honest, it really opened my eyes to how far behind the U.S. is falling in so many basic ways. Some things that stood out:. - In two weeks across some of Japan’s most densely populated cities, I saw only two visibly

Japan is ditching its historical de-facto curbs on rice production and encouraging farmers to make more for export, something I argued for back in June: .
bloomberg.com
In a break from a decades-old policy, the Japanese government will encourage farmers to disregard a de facto cap on rice production and boost cultivation of the food staple, a step that could win...
The soaring price of rice has toppled Japanese governments before. It could also be the making of a new leader. Like his father before him, Shinjiro Koizumi can use a battle against a powerful vested interest to tell a story of broader reform. My latest:.
