What to do with an hours light after work? Well I'm glad I used it in the car park last Ham Walls RSPB tonight, with this unusually showy Ring Ouzel. Made the right choice for a change....

Well the weekend started with a very distant Red-backed Shrike at Portbury Wharf, on Friday, & ended with a showy juvenile Turtle Dove near Nailsea….shame weekends are so short these days 🤣🤣🤣

A return visit this morning, to Chew Valley Lake, turned into a good move, when the 1st Red-necked Grebe since 2012 was found. A Summer plumaged bird too….sadly stayed too distant for decent pix. But, when the Spotted Sandpiper lands right in front of you, it eases that…

Spent Sunday morning getting cold, & a little wet at times, waiting for the Durleigh Res, Whiskered Tern. Which it did…sadly every close pass, had a very Grey ‘yucky’ sky behind it…so didn’t really get what I was hoping for….@RareBirdAlertUK @BirdGuides @somersetbirds

Today I finally got around to visiting Cheddar Reservoir, to see the 3 Black-necked Grebes, that have been around for a while. All 3 are at different stages of coming into Summer plumage. They all showed well. @RareBirdAlertUK @BirdGuides @somersetbirds

This Saturday 15th, I only had the morning to do some birding, so decided to go to Parkend, Forest of Dean, to see the Hawfinches, after failing last weekend, as it was too busy.....success with 9+ Hawfinches @GlosBirds @GlosterBirder @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK

Just a little catch up. Sunday 9th I decided to try again to see the female Kentish Plover on the beach at Burnham-on-Sea, it was 5/6th time lucky. I had only ever seen it at extreme distance on Stert Island before..... @BirdGuides @RareBirdAlertUK @somersetbirds
