About 100 years ago, Edwin Hubble used bright Cepheid stars in Andromeda (M31) to show that the mysterious  "spiral nebula" are outside the Galaxy and cosmic islands as our Milky Way. The next...

reprocessed mosaic of M33. Considerations: a) overall appearance blue but a yellowish core b) blue mostly from individual young stars in spiral arms, yellow from older unresolved stars . (1/2) 🔭#astrophotography🔭📷

How would NGC6946 look like if it would not be located close to the Galactic plane?  I estimated the reddening using a Schlegel&Finkbeiner dust map, the further process is as similar as possible to the original. 🔭#astrophotography🔭📷

The famous summer object NGC7000, a.k.a. the Northamerica nebula, using Sii guilded HOO rather than SHO. This palette give a more red-blue dominant HOO-like look with areas of considerable Sii emission being orange-yellow. 🔭#astrophotography🔭📷

NGC1499, the California nebula, is a HII region in Perseus discovered by Edward Barnard in 1885. It extends for more than 2.5° on the sky and is a frequently targeted object  for wider field setups. 🔭#astrophotography🔭📷

The Cepheus region is a more busy part of the Milky Way: emission nebula like the Elephant trunk or the Squid nebula, dark clouds like Barnard 150, galaxies like NGC 6946 and the open star cluster NGC 6939, all in one image. 🔭#astrophotography🔭📷

Last week: rain showers during the day, cloud fields at night. Read about SN2025rbs in NGC7331 yesterday (discovered on July 14th), cloud forecast was good, so put it on my schedule. At the end I got 3min (sic!) of data, ie 1 frame, but enough to get SN2025rbs.
