Biological essentialism is the antithesis of feminism. It has never served the interests of women- even those who are wealthy, white and heterosexual.

I wonder if the people condemning Just Stop Oil activists for destroying art are able to put two and two together yet. Anyway, here’s an unrelated post…

Disturbing to read: #NZ “Government to change free speech rules for universities”. In democracies, universities should uphold academic freedom & shouldn’t be tightly regulated by govts. Issues of who speaks, when, & where on campus are for univs to decide:

A union says the move seems aimed at ensuring people can spread disinformation on university campuses.

Every time Māori use a haka in the context of our national politics, Americans get mad at us about it. They want our culture to be a packaged product they can consume in the as entertainment. It's imperative we don't let them reduce us to monkeys dancing for them on cue.

Let the world see the haka isn't just for rugby games, graduations, weddings and funerals. Let them get a glimpse of its original intention and if it makes anyone uncomfortable to see it outside of those other contexts then stop using it. stop telling us that when you saw it

The New Zealand government is pulling back on protecting Māori rights, sparking protests from indigenous lawmakers who oppose the decision with their traditional “haka” chant. This is powerful.
