This morning, our emergency response teams continue assessing the area for damage from Hurricane Milton. A wind advisory has been issued for our area as the final wind bands from the storm continue throughout the day. Expect breezy and rainy conditions.

Traffic lights are out on NW 39th Ave. between 83rd St. & 98th St. (both East & West of I-75). If you get to an intersection with a traffic light outage, treat it like a four-way stop.

Need a place to store your vehicle? There is free parking at the city's SW Parking Garage (105 SW Third St.), today, Oct. 9, and Thursday, Oct. 10, based on availability. Parking restrictions are also lifted today and Thursday for all parking zones. #HurricaneMilton

Our Regional Transit System (RTS) has scheduled reduced and fare free service Wednesday, Oct. 9. Reduced service routes are available on the RTS website at Please note, bus service is suspended when winds reach a sustained 35 mph.

All waste and recycling containers, along with bulky items, appliances, and larger branches, should be removed from the curbside before the storm arrives and remain safely stored away until after the storm has passed.

Also, refuse collection for Wednesday and Thursday will be delayed. It is expected that normal Wednesday collections will happen on Friday and normal Thursday collections will happen on Saturday.

-Self-serve sandbags are available at Citizens Field (1000 NE Waldo Rd.). Please access the site from NE 12th Avenue via Waldo Road, or travel south on NE 15th Street via NE 16th Avenue.

-Pre-made sandbags are available at Public Works (405 N W 39th Ave.). To best manage traffic to the Public Works facility, city officials ask neighbors to adjust their routes and drive north on NW Sixth Street, turning right (east) on NW 39th Ave.
