This is why I love learning vocab from Twitter; I was curious about "tírghráthóirí". land lovers? Of course it means patriots. I love seeing the language used sarcastically as well. .

Caithfidh mé mo cheacht a fhoghlaim. Postáilim i mBéarla agus tá na freagraí lán le tírghráthóirí Gaelacha. Ní thagann siad nuair a postáilim i nGaeilig ar fáth inteacht.

An ghealach, anocht 🤍. In Arabic, we say that a beautiful girl is like "the moon of the 14th", as the moon is in its full phase on the 14th of every lunar month🌕

Dhún mé mo "as béarla" X account mar ba mhaith liom níos lú am a chaitheamh ar na meáin shóisialta. Anois, I'm still "chronically online" from this account, ach as Gaeilge 😅.

The "Bye-lingual" thing is so true, I was trying to describe a salad to my mom, and could not remember the Arabic word for "cucumber". I told her: "it's like a carrot, but green". Preparing to say goodbye to both my Arabic & English as I expand my Irish vocabulary 😅.

In the big year of 2025 the 'translate' button in X still does not translate Gaeilge 😮‍💨.

Side quests an deireadh seachtaine seo (this weekend): going to Lá Mór na Gaeilge in Margadh na Feirme. This reminded me how much I loved the sound of irish, and how much joy it brings me to hear it in the streets and outside the classroom!

I always think about how in Ireland people say "thanks a million" while in Jordan it's just "thanks a thousand", & in Irish "Céad míle fáilte" means "A 100,000 welcomes" while in Arabic we say " a 100 welcomes" 😅 who sets these thresholds & why is Ireland more generous? 😅.

An Túinéis 🇹🇳.Btw why does Duolingo streak feel like a serious commitment? I was in an airplane aisle at 11:00 pm hungry, thirsty, & exhausted, typing "Itheann na cailíní ceapairí" to keep my 75 days streak 🥲

The thing I adore the most about Gaeilge is the multiple plural formats. Not sure if it follows a rule or if any other languages have this, but:.Sneaic:sneaiceanna?.Garda:gardaí?.Tacsaí:tacsaithe?.Cat:cait?.Beautiful across the board, 10/10, never boring, English could never.
