“When you're finally up at the moon looking back on earth, all those differences and nationalistic traits are pretty well going to blend, and you're going to get a concept that maybe this really is one world and why the hell can't we learn to live together like decent people.”

I enjoy the distraction of a movie on a long flight, but who decided that game consoles should be built into the back of airline seats, so that passengers can have their measly 15 cubic inches of real estate jarred like an earthquake every 5 seconds?

I was interviewed by @edutopia for an article about using TikTok in the classroom. As a TikTok creator I was happy to express my thoughts! It’s a good read: https://t.co/Jdr2xsarLK

For many science teachers, TikTok serves as a useful library of inspiration for in-class discussions, experiments, and student inquiry.

Hey parents- Last week was teacher appreciation week. It’s not too late! Last year I was given a box of 1000 pencils. May have been the favorite gift of my entire career! Certainly made the top 5 list! Consider this for a teacher in your child’s life!

My possibly unpopular opinions: Let your students use notes on tests Let them turn in late assignments Let them retake assessments Eliminate most, if not all homework Oh, and give them a pencil without a hassle. Build relationships, not barriers

“It’s a dangerous thing to mistake speaking without thought for speaking the truth” ~ A line from fictional detective Benoit Blanc that seems so incredibly appropriate these days.

Hey teachers- ever need a break? So do your students! Let them turn in assignments late. Admit it, you’ve been late paying a bill, or late doing something for work too. Allowing late work won’t ruin their pursuit of responsibility. A little grace is a beautiful thing.

I had no idea that Amnesty International has a travel advisory posted about the USA. Makes sense.

The forest was shrinking but the trees kept voting for the axe, for the axe was clever and convinced the trees that because his handle was made of wood he was one of them. -Turkish Proverb- I truly wonder if our country is too far gone to repair itself.

More children now die from gun violence than car accidents. Let that sink in.
