Congratulations to Georges. It is not every day that you get to close an 18 year old feature request:
blog.gtk.org
In the last post, we discussed deprecating treeviews and cell renderers, among other things. All these deprecations cause a lot of work for applications and libraries using these APIs, so why are...

This change completes the work done by Georges, @matthias_clasen, and Corey Berla to port the whole dialog away from the deprecated GtkTreeView widgets to the new GTK4 list views, and in so doing Georges closed an 18 years old bug

We are dropping the Autotools build for GTK3, and have fully switched to @mesonbuild. If you package GTK3 and you are still using Autotools, now is the time to switch. For more information, see the announcement on Discourse:
discourse.gnome.org
The next GTK 3 release, 3.24.36, will drop support for building with Autotools. GTK has been using Meson in its main development branch since 2016, and in the gtk-3-24 branch since 2018. While we did...

GTK supports MacOS, but the Cocoa integration is not the best. I've been working on a bunch of patches that I hope will make GTK a serious option for who ever wants to build MacOS apps. Here is the result, the Todo List demo app with my patches GTK (1/5):

Lots of new API landed in the main development branch and will be available in 4.10, next March. Also: deprecations! @matthias_clasen explains what’s happening, on the development blog:
blog.gtk.org
If you are paying attention to GTK's git repository, you may have noticed a change in the last weeks. We have a directory gtk/deprecations, which is destined to contain source files that implement...

One year ago yesterday, according to my journal, I stayed up way too late working on a parser for a new little markup language for GTK. So happy birthday blueprint-compiler! 🎂

On the GTK dev blog, @matthias_clasen is going to take you on a journey into the font selection dialog:
blog.gtk.org
I've written about the handling of fonts in GTK before. This post is going to focus on how to use the more advanced font (and font chooser) features in your application. Finding fonts The most...

It took almost a year, but the work done by @who_t and I on high-resolution scroll finally landed in Mutter (@gnome), wlroots (Sway) and @GTKtoolkit, both X11 and Wayland 😁
And thanks to Peter, it's been a joint effort :) Adding the mandatory TL;DR demo: 👈 On the left, a GTK app without high-resolution wheel scrolling support. 👉 On the right, an updated GTK app and an XWayland one (Chrome) showing my cat, because, you know, the internet.

Lots of apps ported to GTK4, and new templates for GNOME Builder. There’s no better time to start using GTK4 for your projects.
We're proud to share the release of GNOME 42! After months of hard work from all our teams, this release brings many improvements and exciting new features, like dark mode! https://t.co/XjKf9a1M2M
